Built on a plateau 46 miles from the Atlantic coast, Sao Paulo is South America's largest city with over 17 million residents. This vibrant metropolis boasts twelve thousand restaurants, five top class football clubs and the biggest Japanese population outside of the orient. The breathtaking Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, located in the southern suburbs of Sao Paulo, sweeps around the natural amphitheatre providing the fervent supporters with commanding views of the action. With only two races of the 2007 season to go Raikkonen had been 17 points adrift, requiring the greatest comeback in F1 history. Hamilton had led the title chase since May, but at the green light he was comprehensively outmanoeuvred and relegated to eighth. Then a more serious setback: his McLaren gearbox inexplicably selected neutral and, without drive for fully thirty seconds, the entire field flew by. Meanwhile, the Ferraris reeled off lap after lap, untroubled by a strangely subdued Alonso whose pace belied his status as championship contender. By the time Lewis had muscled his way back up to seventh, Kimi and Felipe had choreographed the change of lead which denied the Paulistas a home win, but gave Ferrari their first World Champion of the post-Schumacher era. Ironically, Hamilton and Alonso were united on 109 points, one behind Raikkonen who was moved to admit, "I believe in miracles." |

Spectator facilities at Interlagos are generally rather basic although perfectly adequate in the areas where we have selected three covered grandstands. Facing the pit complex is Grandstand M with a giant TV screen opposite. Grandstand D is on the outside of the superb Senna Curve and also offers views of the pit straight and turns 2 and 3, leading on to the back straight. Grandstand F overlooks Turn 3. Grandstand G (uncovered) is on the back straight. All seats are unnumbered. At time of writing 2012 prices had not been released so we display 2011 prices for your guidance. |
